ZOLL | emsCharts for Windows 4.0.11 Update Released

The emsCharts for Windows application has a new update available which corrected some issues with the recently released 4.0.10 version.

Version 4.0.10 was removed from the site to download and only 4.0.11 is available for installation. We are working on re-launching the automatic client update functionality as well as the Remote Administration update.

ZOLL emsCharts Windows 4.0.11

Read the following important information about this release!

This version contains a new release of Windows which requires the replacement of the device’s local database. It is a major upgrade that includes a new installation path, separate data storage, and application name. Read the following information before upgrading:

  • Upload all charts: It is critical that all charts are uploaded from the old version prior to uninstalling or migrating to the new version.
  • Uninstall existing emsCharts Mobile V3: While not required, in order to remove potential user confusion, we recommend that you uninstall the existing emsCharts Mobile v3 application.
  • Remote Administration: The Remote Administration add-on application has not yet been released for the new version and only works with emsCharts Mobile v3.

Note: If you have already upgraded to 4.0.10 (originally released Aug 30th), you have the new installation path, separate data storage, and application name. You are good to go!

New features/enhancements

  • New name and install path for version 4. We changed the product name to ZOLL emsCharts for Windows instead of emsCharts Mobile, which was often confused with applications for iOS and Android devices. The application is now installed in ‘ZOLL emsCharts for Windows V4’ for both 32- and 64-bit versions. The database file’s name is emsChartsWindow.db. All other files such as .exe and .Config reference emsChartsWindows as well.
  • SQLite database update: The database has been updated to use SQLite.
    • Database file has been renamed to ‘emschartsWindows.db’
    • Database is encrypted and can not be opened without decrypting, as was the previous database.
    • All names have changed to reflect new ZOLL emsCharts for Windows name (e.g. emschartsWindows, exe, emschartsWindows.exe.Config etc.) Note: Users must finish/upload all PCRs created from a device in V3 before you upgrade to V4.

Fixed issues

  • Neonatal: Users can now enter up to four decimals for birth weight.
  • Philips EKG importer included installer: Updated the ZOLL emsCharts for Windows application to include import functionality for Philips devices.

Bug fixes

  • Neonatal: Time of Labor and Time of Birth fields were displaying time incorrectly. This issue has been fixed.
  • Certain settings makes Airway page crash: Setting the command configuration for Anatomical Location to Optional caused the Airway page to crash on emsCharts for Windows. This has been fixed.
  • Code Review Install failed: Installing Code Review will now find the path and install correctly.
  • Certain settings make CC/HPI page throw an error: Some settings on the Service > Code Tables > Chart Summary Patient Category caused the CC/HPI page to throw an error on emsCharts for Windows. This has been resolved.
  • SQLite database issue: The new device database caused not all Protocol data to be retrieved. This has been resolved.
  • Patient search is slow: Fixed an issues where some existing patient searches were taking more time than they should.
  • Incorrect user after timeout: Fixed an issue when after a session timeout a different user logged in, the previous user details would display.
  • Import patient can result in a network error: This issue is resolved.
  • Crash on accessing Airway: Fixed an issue where the application would crash when a user accessed the Airway field under Neuro/Airway. This was due to a service configuration setting that used an old format of NEMSIS. This setting will not impact the display of this field going forward.

System configuration changes

There were no system configuration changes in release 4.0.11.

Known issues

  • Mobile Administration Windows Service is not yet currently supported with V4. A subsequent update is redesigning this application.

emsCharts for Windows 3.8.2 Released

From Official Release Notes:

DOWNLOAD NOW via Software Downloads

New in this release

Important! This is the first release of the validate and complete chart functionality. You may see some issues with validation. You will still be able to upload your charts to the web where you will be able to resolve any issues with the chart. You may want to defer using this functionality until we’re able to address all known issues. You can still use this version of the application, but do not change your configuration to enable NEMSIS validation in mobile charts.

Please note: You will need to un-install and re-install this version. Our next release will allow you to simply upgrade. This process can take up to 20 minutes to complete if you have the NEMSIS generation enabled, so please plan appropriately.

2/10/2021 – this was originally released as 3.8.1 but we found a bug that we repaired today and re-released as 3.8.2

New in this release

The following features and enhancements are now available.

  • Document custom elements in Windows. Users can now document, save, and validate custom elements for all states in the Windows application. There is a new screen available where you can pick the state from the states that have been configured for your service, and then you can complete any custom fields required for your state.

Note: You will only see the states that have been configured for your service’s exports. You will also need to update your database on your device to access your state datasets. Please contact our support team if you need assistance with this.
  • Validate your chart in the emsCharts Windows application. You are now able to validate your chart against Command, Service, and State/National NEMSIS rules. There are several new features to support the ability to start and complete the chart in the field.

Enable chart validation. To enable Chart Completion in emsCharts for Windows, a software administrator needs to log into emsCharts on the web and then go to Configuration > Service > Code Tables, then in the ‘Mobile Configuration’ table, check the option for “Validate NEMSIS data in mobile charts” and click Save.

Note: this is the first release of this functionality. See the note at the top of the page before enabling this.

Fixed issues

We fixed the following issues with this release:

  • Picklist options different on web and Windows. Fixed the picklist options for neuro and mental assessments in Windows to match the configured picklists on the web based on the version of NEMSIS configured for the Command Facility.

To modify the picklist options for the Command Facility, log into emsCharts.com as a software administrator and go to Configuration … Command Fac, and select the Chart tab. Modify settings for the Anatomical Exam under Page 5. When users log out and back into the Windows device, the changes will be reflected in the mental and neuro assessment fields.
  • Rhythms were not validating as expected. Fixed an issue where the first rhythm and last rhythm fields were not being processed as expected when the chart was uploaded to the web and were not being validated as expected by the service’s rules.
  • No internet connectivity error. Users saw a “No internet connectivity” error when importing patients that had null values in some fields.
  • Hide PIN on signatures. When a user is signing the chart we now obfuscate their PIN as they’re entering it so that other users can’t see what was entered.
  • Documenting exposures for more than one crew member caused the application to crash. Fixed an issue where documenting the same exposure for multiple crew members resulted in an error or the application would crash.
  • Body survey resets to the V2 version on upload. Fixed an issue where some charts were reverting to the V2 anatomical body image when the chart was uploaded to the web.
  • Neonatal data is added to the chart on upload. There were a few reports of neonatal data being added to a chart when the chart was uploaded to the web. This has been resolved.

Known issues

We’re currently working to resolve the following known issues.

Correction: The following issues were resolved in the 3.8.2 release (see above Fixed Issues) and are no longer known issue.

  • Body survey resets to the V2 version on upload. Some users report issues where some charts are reverting to the V2 anatomical body image when the chart is uploaded to the web.
  • Neonatal data is added to the chart on upload. There have been a few reports of neonatal data being added to a chart when the chart is uploaded to the web.

emsCharts for Windows v3.7.40 Released

New in this release

The following features and enhancements are now available.

  • Updated look and logos: We’ve updated the logos throughout the application to reflect our new brand and name. The product is now ZOLL | emsCharts for Windows. We’ll continue to refine our design over time. [TAB-74]

Fixed issues

We fixed the following issues with this release:

  • App crash on patient lookup: We fixed an issue where the application crashed when users attempted to use the patient lookup functionality. [TAB-303]
  • Support logs not attached to support tickets: Resolved an issue where logs from the device were not attached when support tickets were created and submitted. [TAB-345]
  • Unable to upload large EKGs: Fixed an issue where charts with large EKGs were unable to upload from Windows to the web. [TAB-572]
  • Night Mode caused patient record list to appear to be empty: Opening mobile in night mode and going to the patient page causes the charts to display as blank, although they’re still functional. [TAB-456]

  • App will not load when NFIRS unit field had more than 8 characters: When services were configured with an NFIRS unit that had more than 8 characters, the Windows application would not load. This field was not used in the Windows application but the character limit prevented the application from loading successfully. This issue was fixed in a hotfix that was deployed to production on 06/09/2020 and there were no known customers affected. [TAB-628]

Known issues

We’re currently working to resolve the following known issues.

  • Picklist options different on web and Windows. Some picklist values have different options available on the Windows application than on the web. Specifically, neurological and mental assessments are impacted, but there may be other assessment list affected by this issue as well. This issue does not affect the ability to select and save the data but can be confusing to agencies.
  • Device locks up on transfer to web. We are investigating reports of device lockups or failures during the transfer of charts from Windows to the web.
  • Adding Same Exposure to Multiple Crew Members. Added 9/21/2020. Upon selecting a crew member and a type of exposure (Contact…, Inhalation…, Injury… etc.) you cannot select the same type of exposure for multiple crew members.
